Team Carl
Hello to all my family and friends,
As many of you know I was diagnosed with Parkinso's Disease (PD) in 2009 but my symptoms started many years before. Knowing something was going a bit haywire in me I finally decided to get some answers when I retired that year, Candidly I was devasted with news I got, as is everyone when they get bad news, but fortunately I found a wonderful Movement Disorder Health Center at the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases at UF (one of the best in the world). They became my lighthouse in the new storm I was facing.
I have been fortunate with a slow progression of the disease so far but there are so many others from all age groups and walks of life that have PD and othe movement disorders that are suffering from significant and sometimes rapid impairment. We need to find a cure not only for todays suffererrs but for our future generation, our children and grandchildren. Sadly and unfortunately I suspect many of you have family members, friends, or coworkers that are also impacted by Parkinson's Disease or one of many movement disorder disease. These disease also have tremnendous physical, emotional adn financial impact and burdens for their caregivers and we need to support them too.
Great progress is being made through lots of research and studies, pharmaceutical development and testing, educational and support programming, etc. but it takes funding to do all this. Please help with whatever donation you can make to the Walk for Parkinson fundraiser for all of Central Florida on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Cranes Roost in Longwood, FL. If you can donate please do so under the Team Carl team. You don't need to attend to help but if you want to there will be food and beverages and entertainment. You can even expand this by starting your own team to raise funds and/or become a sponsor of the event of which there are 5 levels of sponsorship.
I thank you all!!
Carl
