Welcome to Barry's Brigade
Dear Family and Friends,
I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who helped make the past Walk for Parkinson’s of 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 so successful. Over the last two years, we have raised more than $25,000! Your support makes a real difference in Central Florida, where every dollar stays local to fund essential programs for those of us living with Parkinson’s and the caregivers who stand beside us. These programs are critical in helping us manage this disease and maintain a high quality of life.
It’s hard to believe that it has been eight years since I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Through it all, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have the love and support of my family and friends. The kids are growing up so fast, and I now have five amazing grandchildren who keep me young and motivated. They give me so much to look forward to, and their energy helps keep me strong.
I continue to refuse to let Parkinson’s define me or dictate how I live my life. This past year has brought both challenges and victories. As expected, my symptoms have progressed, but that comes with the territory. My focus remains on slowing that progression as much as possible. Exercise is key, and I am grateful that I can still play golf, play pickleball, and box at Rock Steady Boxing. Boxing has been incredible for both my body and mind, giving me a place to connect with others on the same journey. It reminds me that I’m never alone in this fight.
While Parkinson’s continues to be part of my life, both of my neurologists are pleased with how I’m doing. Exercise, a healthy diet, and quality sleep remain the best medicine—not just for me, but for everyone facing PD.
Most importantly, I want to thank my incredible wife, Beth, and my wonderful daughters and sons-in-law, Brooke & Dylan and Jordan & Dylan. They see both the good days and the tough ones, and their unwavering love and support mean everything to me. Fortunately, I’m having far more good days than bad, and I’m looking forward to many beach days with our grandkids, family, and friends.
With your continued support, I truly believe we will see a future without Parkinson’s. Let’s make this year’s walk the best one yet!
Bless you all,
Barry
