2022 Walk for Parkinson's

Team Canavan

Hello and Welcome to Team Canavan!

A message from Sheila, my mom, who I told it was time to tell you all what she's been going through and ask for your support:

Dear friends and family,

Canavan was my father's last name. He had Parkinson's for 12 years before passing away from cancer. At the time, they did not know Parkinson's could be genetic. Unfortunately, it seems that it is because I was diagnosed with the same disease officially 5 years ago but I had symptoms beginning 3 years before that.

As some of you may know, 60,000 people are diagnosed with Parkinson's each year in the United States. Currently, over 1 million people have the disease in our county. That's not counting the world. Good news is that, judging from the number of emails I get from organizations, there are thousands of people working to cure Parkinson's every day. Research and support are vital and Parkinson Association of Central Florida is funding both with this walk.

On Saturday, April 2nd at Cranes Roost I will be walking for my father and for myself. We would love to have you join our team or if not, please donate what you can and ask your friends to do the same. Anything you can give will be helpful.

Please help me fight this thing!
Sheila
